01 The Trade

A small mechanical shop, on purpose.

What we do, and how we are set up to do it.

Most buildings in Prince Edward County are not served by a large mechanical contractor. They are served by a small local shop that knows the building, knows the equipment, and answers the phone. That is the model we work from.

MINSRV LTD. is a mechanical services company based in Wellington. We install, service, and repair heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems for a range of small buildings: century homes with retrofit heat pumps, farm buildings with specialty ventilation, restaurants with walk-in coolers, and small commercial spaces that need reliable make-up air.

We are not a national chain and we do not sub-contract the diagnostic work. The person who arrives is the person who diagnoses, quotes, and — in most cases — performs the repair. That is deliberate. It is how a small shop stays accountable for its own work.

We work across the County and into neighbouring areas, with the schedule that rural mechanical work actually requires. Some jobs are scheduled. Some are not. We try to be honest about which is which.

Note

We are a service and installation contractor — not a manufacturer, not a distributor, and not an emergency-only outfit. If a repair is not in our scope, we will say so before we quote it.

Scheduled Maintenance

Annual and seasonal service contracts for the systems above. Filter changes, coil cleaning, refrigerant checks, combustion analysis where relevant, and a written log of every visit — so the next technician, whoever that is, knows what has already been done.

04 Method

How we run a call.

Four rules, applied to every job.
4.1

Diagnose before quote

We do not price a repair from a phone description. We arrive, we test, and we tell you what is actually wrong before we tell you what it costs. If the honest answer is "this unit is finished," we say that too.

4.2

Repair before replace

Replacement is sometimes the right call and sometimes the easiest sale. We default to repair, and we only recommend replacement when the repair cost, age, and efficiency of the unit make it the better decision for the building.

4.3

Commissioning is part of the job

An installed system is not finished until it has been started, measured, and documented. Airflow balanced, refrigerant charge verified, temperature rise or split recorded. A unit that "runs" is not the same as a unit that performs.

4.4

Log every unit

Every service call ends with a written record: model, serial, readings, parts used, and what to watch for next time. The log stays with the building. It is the difference between service and a series of unrelated visits.
